Default Price drop....Simon Fay: Claro Walnut & Western Red Cedar #9

Sold!

Here is the sound clip from Scott Allyn it's great to listen to even if not interested in buying the guitar... Thanks Scotty!

Recorded on the Fay in one of the warehouse rooms at my workplace. Natural room reverb and the occasional bonus sound of construction next-door.

This is a great guitar, folks. Awesome wood combination (selected by a really cool dude ::cough:, fantastic build quality, and a very sweet voice.
Check out Scott's other stuff too..... http://www.scottallyn.com/

OK I'm going to put this back up for sale. I have kept it since the last time I had it up for sale to watch the finish crack and see if there are any changes....

It has been more than a year and half and it has not changed a bit and I think sounds even better now than it did.

Simon Fay: Claro Walnut & Western Red Cedar

This is a wonderful playing and looking guitar.
I'm starting to gather equipment and tools to build my first guitar and need to let go of somethings to fund that endeavor.
There is a small ding on the top that you can see pointed out in the pictures also a finish crack to the right of the neck a just above the soundhole.
This guitar is a great fingerstyle guitar with great tone and better craftsmanship than many higher priced
guitars that I have played.
I'm sure you will be satisfied.

Nice Fay, Dennis! Good luck with the sale, and have fun with your build. Mine has stalled...just can't seem to find the time to finish it. Box is closed up, but still need to work on the neck. I might have to wait until I retire before I can finish it ....Aloha!

Mornin Hen!

I haven't built anything yet but I did come across a truck load of woods and decided I need a JET 22-44 Oscillating Drum Sander and the price is $2400

I keep getting closer to building something and sure I will one day. : )

Aloha!

Well if that Fay serves as an inspiration to you, then I look forward to playing your creations!

Dennis,

It is about time you got around to building that first guitar!!! I was an early owner of this beautiful Fay, and it is truely a "gem". The richness and balance of the tone is outstanding. If you do alot of playing in alternate tunings you and this guitar will get along fabulously!!!

Good luck with the sale..................

Hey James and Russ..... Hope your both doing well...

James, I'm very slow to the idea of building but stay on a path to it... You will see one someday!

Russ, everyone who has ever played this guitar that I know says it is a great guitar no matter what tuning you use. I remember seeing Eric Skye's eyes light up when he played it.

I'm sure someone will enjoy it but I didn't want to sell it when there were unanswered questions about that finish. I'm sure now almost 2 years later it has proven to be stable and just that ... a small flaw in the finish.

This guitar is worth every penny I'm asking but I am open to negotiating.

Dennis

Hi D.,
I would strongly recommend that you look at a Woodmaster drum sander. I originally started with a regular 22-44 Peformax and the paper loaded awfully fast even with excellent dust collection -- I never had that problem with the Woodmaster. Secondly, consider buying used -- woodworking tools take a major hit in the secondhand market and good tools are made to last. Best of luck on your sale!!!

Simon,
Thanks for chiming in...

Now, the woodmaster 240 or 120 volts?

the Jet 22-44 osc oscillating head is supposed to help keep the loading up down to a minimum. and is 120 volts. It would take me too much to convert to 240 and get it to my garage area.

I bought Simon's prototype #6 when it was offered here several weeks ago. It was the first "private label" guitar I had ever played let alone owned. The first time I played it, I remembered some forty years ago playing my guitar teacher's David Rubio classical guitar. What an experience. Whoever buys this instrument will have a masterpiece at a bargain price, IMO.
