Congrats! And here you are preaching to the choir as I own a 1942 J50. 1950 is pretty much the last year before the tapered headstock and fabric side supports start disappearing on the slope shoulder jumbos.

People who have not played an old Gibson have no idea what Gibsons are all about. They are a wonder all their own. Enjoy yours.

I've got a '48 SJ I picked up a couple of years ago. Had the neck reset this winter/spring and wow! It's a keeper!

Very true, I'm fairly well versed with old Martin's but after playing this old Gibson I knew I had to have it.
