Oldies (50s-70s) Songs Not Commonly Heard
Hi,
What 1950's thru 70's songs are audiences likely to hear and think/respond "wow, I haven't heard that song in a while"? In other words, you'll hear popular ELVIS songs or Brown Eyed Girl or Mustang Sally all the time, but how often do you hear "Save it for a Rainy Day" by Stephen Bishop or "Rhythm of the Rain" by the Cascades ? Thanks!

Can you tell us what type of music you play ie reggae, folk, rock, blues, all instrumental or with vocal, fingerstyle or strumming or both, etc. That will help us narrow down the songs we provide here.

I've been listening to and playing a lot of late 60s - 70s LA Country Rock, and that genre in itself covers a lot of territory. Think Poco (Heart of the Night), some Eagles (Love Will Keep Us Alive), some Byrds (Chestnut Mare), Rick Nelson & Stone Canyon Band (Garden Party), Michael Nesmith & the First National Band (Different Drum), Pure Prairie League (Amie/Falling In/Out of Love)some Crosby, Stills & Nash (Teach Your Children), Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (Mr. Bo Jangles) and others...

Hotroad, my songs include DooWop, Buddy Holly, Motown, Mountain of Love by Johnny Rivers, I'd Really Love to See You Tonight (England Dan and John Ford Coley), Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy by the Tams.

I started thinking about this, and realized I haven’t heard anything by The Guess Who in years. They had a lot of great songs:
