Default An appreciation of the "pros" on AGF

I am far from the talent level that is obvious on a multitude of our members. My point is that I have never seen a post that puts down folks like me, who love guitars, love to play, and never will have performance level talent. I have learned so much on this forum, I am pleased to be a contributing charter member. Kudos to those who are great players, performers, and purveyors of all things acoustic guitar! I should have posted this on the Grateful thread a few days ago. Thanks again to the great folks on the forum.

There are a lot of clubs in the world and many attempt an unearned exclusivity. My experience with guitarists is that they are for the most part open, generous, and inclusive. It’s more than fun when those who are better at what one wants to do let you be part of the club. Even the occasional snark is funny and good natured. There are lot who are generous, but I particularly enjoy the contributions of Wade Hampton and Silly Moustache.

My biggest "pro" of the AGF is the great friends I have here. Many of my friends here are my friends not because of guitar but because of other things we appreciate and have in common.

I agree with Kerbie. The diversity of perspectives makes AGF the best

Norsepicker mentioned Wade Hampton Miller and Silly Moustache. I have learned much from both, but as time has gone I learned from WHM that he has ties to the Kansas City area, and Mass Street Music in Lawrence, Ks., where I have bought several guitars and formed a true love of that place. It is cool to know that in this forum I became introduced to someone with a common appreciation and experience, even tho' he is in Alaska and I am in Texas. Not to mention, although I am about to, the encouragement to try John Pearse strings. And Andy's love of Collings guitars helped cement my decision to own one. Yes, I think our members are a fine group!

I've learned a ton on this forum. And the talent of the players, as well as the builders (and those who are simply enthusiasts like myself) is really wonderful. Def appreciate the helpful insights.

Everybody here from world class pickers to those working on that 3rd chord, and I can learn something from all of you.

Great, classy comment, Jeff. I would add you to a long list of excellent contributors. I keep thinking that even at my age (80) I would love to get an Archtop and learn some jazz from you and Wade. Maybe next year...

Absolutely. If it wasn't for the pros in the "Record" section my tunes would sound like a Radio Shack cassette recorder playing back in a milk box. (Yeah, I'm that old that I remember milk boxes, )

I’ve learned lots here and am grateful to have been allowed to join and participate.
And yes, there should be a statue erected somewhere for both Silly Moustache and WHM.
