Why I can't find my guitar?
Hi folks, I hope you help me.
I just want a 14 fret Nylon string Crossover, Cedar top and cutway. That's all. Almost every crossover are spruce top, or don't have cutaway. I bought a chinesse Breedlove, it looks beautiful, but it doesn't sound, it doesn't project the sound at all. I'm looking for something under 1500 Usd. Thanks |

I was curious about this a little because Takamine offers a crossover, TC135SC, that seems to be a variation of a classical they build, the TC132SC. The crossover has 14 frets and a spruce top. It is does not sound like a traditional classical. I think the use of spruce is to give the guitar more headroom if strummed.
I wanted a cedar top as well, but am very much okay with the spruce since it likely offers a little brighter tone.

A spruce top does not add to the quacky sound of a piezo pick up. That is the nature of a piezo pick up regardless of the instrument. If you are playing plugged in you can EQ how you want the instrument to sound. A warm spruce and a bright cedar are easily achieved. Amplification is the great equalizer when it comes to tone.

The TC135SC is the crossover version with a spruce top and 1 7/8" neck. I agree with Dave about top wood and piezo. The tone of the piezo has little to do with pickup tone. A microphone is more likely to reproduce top wood nuances. The preamp and transducer type and placement will have more affect on plugged tone than tonewoods. I guess a way to see this is like food seasonings. With acoustic tone - the tonewoods and build characteristics are the seasoning that affects perceived tone. Plugged in tone- the transducer type, placement, body construction, preamp, signal chain, and PA all "season" the perceived plugged in tone.
