Default Fernandez

Does anyone know anything about this brand? I haven't found a label that looks quite the same.

Did a quick search for Japanese Fernandez classical guitar. It yielded this: https://reverb.com/item/14879424-fer...assical-guitar

Looks like the guy.

Now I'm noticing that the "Made in Japan" lettering on the label in the pic you posted has been smeared and rendered unintelligible. Hmmm.

As mentioned above, it looks Japanese; maybe late 70s / 80s. The label reminds me of the (quite well-made) Horabe guitars of that period. Do you have any more photos, esp of the peghead and rosette areas?

Unfortunately I was outbid on the auction. I'm thinking I missed out on a gem.

Default Sherry Brenner

Look up Sherry Brenner. He was fond of taking Spanish luthiers and putting their names on Japanese guitars that he would sell as Spanish masterpieces. Consider yourself lucky you didn’t get it, but the Sherry Brenner story is fascinating, kind of a guitar who dunnit. I don’t know if that guitar was part of that story but it’s possible it was. By the way, some of the guitars were ok. Just no way to know.
