Default Transcribing tip for those not gifted with a good ear

I'm transcribing something (a slow tune) by ear, using slow down software and putting it right into GuitarPro as I go along section by section. I'm using a phone app tuner for hints.

Yes I know, 50 lashes with a 56

I do the same, but recently I’ve just been taking them to one of my teachers. I still take a 90 minute lesson every other week with one instructor and a 60 minute lesson with another teacher on the alternative weeks. Sometimes just watching how quickly they can do it is amazing to see how their brain works. Those are always the best lessons. I’m a simple detective, but they really are artists and speak a different language. They hear key, intervals, and know what chords should come next and why s/he’s playing “x” over the “y” chord. It’s really amazing to me as a player to see and hear how an artist can see so much deeper than me.
