We wound up getting him a Fender Mustang LT25 (https://shop.fender.com/en-US/guitar...311100000.html) - the acoustic preset sounded quite good, and he's likely to get an electric in the fairly near future, so he'll use the amp models. (Didn't hurt that Sweetwater gave about a 15% discount on a demo.)
