Slash Signature J-45s
Gibson have just announced 4 new Slash signature Les Pauls for NAMM. Fair enough. The guy basically single-handedly inspired a whole new generation of LP players, myself included.
They've also announced two Slash signature J-45s. November Burst and Vermillion Burst. That seems weird. I've seen slash twice live - in and outside of GnR, and I've never seen him play a Gibson acoustic. I thought he played Guilds on the (relatively) rare occasions he does play acoustic?? He's just not a name I associate with Gibson acoustics at all. Would you go out of your way to get a Slash sig J-45? I guess it's nice to have two new colour options... though there seems to be a lot of J-45s already available in lots of different woods and finishes. Currently Gibson only have one artist model listed in the acoustic section of their site (Sheryl Crow). Maybe Montanna just felt a bit left out? https://www.gearnews.com/namm-2020-g...nature-models/ Price looks to be about $1k more than a standard.

Really? Is that a new thing? I would have to go out of my way to think of more than a handful of videos I've seen of him with any kind of acoustic.
I've just searched up 'slash acoustic' on youtube and could only find one video where he plays a Gibson. All the others were some other make. Looks like he played a J-45 for one song (alternate tuning guitar?) for a show with Myles Kennedy 10 years ago...

I’ve only ever seen him play a J-45 in unison with Miles Kennedy - the mythology of the acoustic guitar in the hands of certain higher profile musicians is good fodder for marketing. As a self employed person, I’m always promoting myself - if I didn’t, I’d be out of business - same with companies - they promote variations in product all the time to attract attention and keep vibrant sales going.

The fact that guys who haven’t been musically relevant in 30 years are still getting signature models is kind of a sad state of affairs.

B) Seems like you only really get one after you're done with making music Gibsons Sheryl Crow is pretty new too if memory serves and poor Johnny Cash had to 3 years after he died to get one from Martin

Here's a few, he plays almost exclusively electric but I've seen him play guild, martin, gibson and a few others. |

hmm, either he's been using some really high-end face cream or my thinking was out of date Still feels odd giving him a Signature J-45. There must be current famous players that primary using Gibson acoustics to make music right now..... says he... and fails to think of any...

I'd think of Russ Barenburg before I'd think of Slash as the face behind a J45.

Just curious, do they have current standard J-45 specs and are just color variants? … VT
