Post making a weird face

My wife and kids tell me I make a truly weird face while playing guitar and even weirder on bass. Kind of a pained grimace.

I've passed this family trait on to my 15 year old daughter, she's learning to play (on a Baby T) and her mouth hangs wide open while she looks off into space.

The good part is it does keep me from singing. I've been compared to Adam Sandler, or Dylan with a head cold.

Cool

There's nothing more shocking than getting a look at your own GUITAR FACE.

I'm pleased to tell you that you are not alone, and that much research has gone into this alarming condition.

The Official Guitar Face Website

We'll pray for you.

That's too funny! I've been told by friends and offspring that I look "serious" or even "mean" when I play. Knitted brow, taut lips. Didn't see anything like it in the above "medical dictionary." You can see a mild attack of it if you look at my profile; that was just pre-rehearsal warmup, so it's not bad.

I recall seeing Duke Robillard (sp?) in Newport RI maybe 16-18 years ago. Never heard of him. Was bar-hopping downtown at night, because my friend & I didn't bring enough $$$ to get into the Jazz Festival. People were spilling out onto the street at one place, so we squeezed up to the window and saw (and heard) this guy just going at it! We finally got inside, and he was just awesome. And the Guitar Face condition, wow! Looked like he was really hurtin' We joked about it for months afterward, whenever we played our new Roomful of Blues album: "Man, that guy HATES to play!"

Default hee

When I started playing I had a face similar to Steve Howe's, the "screaming in pain... I'm being burned alive!!!" face

Talking

OH, SURE!! It's ALL fun and games until someone loses an eye!!

(oh no, I'm turning into my parents!!) That had to be one of the more popular parental phrases of wisdom when I was growing up in the early sixties!

Yeah, that was a good one. Another that used to drive me nuts was the parental answer to my request to go out somewhere for the evening (usually on a school night).

"No. You've been out enough this week."

Enough????????? Explain please??????

No explanation. That's just the way it is.

Default guitar face

I'd be afraid to see what my gyrations look like. Joe Cocker got nothing on me.
