Default Case Plush?

Not an Electric Guitar question, per se, but this is the best place to start.

I've got an old SKB hard case (from the 90s) and the foam liner is thin/missing in places, potentially exposing the guitar to harm.

Anyone have thoughts on the best way to reline/replush/refoam this otherwise good case? If so, please include possible sources for the materials. Thanks

Thanks. Decided to spare myself that particular agony and tried it myself. The cloth came up easily, I removed the deteriorated foam insulator, replaced with new springy weather stripping that fit, then spray-adhezed the cloth back in place. Looks/works great.

A luggage shop may be able to help with that. Not sure how cost effective. (I had to get new clasp on a crap Yamaha case and it set me back $80). An alternative may be going to a fabric shop (or looking online) and seeing if anyone has the plush and doing it yourself.

I used to have a source for this stuff but can't seem to find it, now. It was recommended by a guy I know who owns a major guitar company. He referred to the fabric as whore house plush. Really.

I dunno; for me case plush has more association with coffin lining; too many viewings at funerals lately, and as for case queen guitars, I’d rather have them stored somewhere else than home so I don’t see the cases (out of site out of mind). Having guitars out on stands makes them useful. And as the old saying goes “if you don’t use it you’ll lose it.”
