R.I.P. Hal Blaine
90 years old. The most recorded person in music. What a legacy of great music he left behind.

Oh, I hate to hear that. Probably the greatest session drummer who ever lived. He'll be missed.

Just saw this. His drumming had such clarity - so, so many of those sixties tunes had his unmistakable stamp. I fondly remember all of those productions where Hal drove the song forward. What a talent! Thanks Hal!

Sorry to hear this. I met him once. Nice guy with lots of great stories. Seemed like quite a character.
If you haven't watched "The Wrecking Crew", I highly recommend it. |

Sorry to hear this.
Our Heroes are leaving. Hal Blaine was my first drum mentor. (Danny Seraphine my second) I stole a lot of cool chops from Mr Blaine. Much gratitude to a master innovator. |

RIP, Hal Blaine.
Coincidentally our local PBS station is just getting ready to air The Wrecking Crew for pledge week. |

He certainly gave us decades of great rhythm... so appreciative for all he played. The consummate "studio musician"... always loved his playing on Paul Simon's records, among hundreds of others!
Thanks for a lifetime of wonderful music, Mr. Blaine...

I loved Hal's work. He lived a long life, didn't he? How wonderful to see the term, "died of natural causes" coming back into vogue as it was in his family's announcement - it leaves you with so much more a feeling of rest for the deceased person. As the family said, "May he rest forever on 2 and 4."

Hal Blaine was a legend amongst studio musicians. A friend who has known him for almost 50 years said it best: "When I was growing up, I didn't realize that seven out of my ten most favorite drummers was Hal Blaine."
I was amazed at how great he still played and sounded when he and others from The Wrecking Crew backed up Glen Campbell on his last recording a few years ago, called "I'm Not Gonna Miss You." R.I.P. Mr. Blaine. Your legacy will continue for eons as younger generations get to enjoy your musical talents. |
