Guitar Clamps
I found a good source for wood clamps for guitar repair. Harbor Freight Tools sells "U" clamps from 2" to 12" ($2.99 to $6.99). They are good quality and work very well.

I couldn't find any wooden U clamps at HF.
Could you post a link? |

For the most part, I would never use cheaply made Harbor Freight tools for heavy duty mechanic's type work (with a few exceptions of course)
But for basic wood working and luthiery type work (where the forces and abuse are not severe) they are perfectly adequate and quite affordable. My garage doesn't have a single Harbor Freight hand tool in it. My guitar/wood shop is fully populated with Harbor Freight tools.

Ah, “handscrews”.
I have no use for those for guitar making or otherwise. Each to his or her own though. |

I would never use those for guitar building either but you can get reasonable decent C-Clamps in various sizes from HF.

Yeah, I've never liked using handscrews for anything. including furniture making. I had a bunch that someone gave me sometime back and I gave them away.

I like to use the metal F clamps but don't use those screw clamps at all. Cam clamps are a better tool for guitar building. I've bought several from the local Rockler. They're OK.

I mostly agree with Fazio about HD tools. Generally I buy the best tools I can afford. Tools that are "specialty" for occasional use I am not as particular. I would not buy any HF power tools but HF does offer some cool stuff.
