Default Martin D-18 in Sunburst?

I was looking on the Sweetwater website and saw that they have the Martin OM-21 in Sunburst but not a D-18. They only have the D-18 in Natural and Ambertone. I was just wondering why Martin doesn't make the D-18 in Sunburst. That would be pretty cool.

Looks like there is one on reverb but it looks to be a custom shop model. Very cool looking.

Martin only offers both the D-18 and the OM-21 in aged toner. The sunburst and ambertone guitars must be Sweetwater special orders.

They are out there. Just hard to find with todays limited stock.

Dave’s has one now:

Maury is expecting some in March…

That makes sense about them being out there but hard to find. I thought it was weird that they would make an ambertone but not a sunburst. I really like the sunburst Martins. Glad they are making them.

I have three guitars with a sunburst top

Martin Rosewood
D35 shaded top
OM35 1935 Sunburst finish

They definitely look different

Mahogany
Alvarez - they call their finish Shadowburst

All three are fingerprint magnets. If I was ordering or buying an 18 series Martin guitar, I would want Ambertone. To my eye, the contrast of ambertone with mahogany is visually more aesthetically pleasing. Sunburst and Rosewood for the same reasons, I.e. I would not order or buy ambertone with rosewood unless it had exceptional tone at a really good price.

There was one for sale here a few months back. It was gorgeous. It sold in about a day, the second after I posted pics for the guy!
