Default Newtone Masterclass Strings-Who has them?

I can't seem to find a US store selling them. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Thanks,
I think you'll find they are only selling their strings straight from the UK factory now - cutting out the middle man.

Don't be put off, they have a very low fixed price for postage - I paid something like US$4.00 postage for several sets UK to Australia.

I bought two sets from here recently:

If Newtone's taking everything direct, it may not be a long term solution. I did order a pair of nickel sets direct since I couldn't find those elsewhere, and I may well put those on tonight.

Thanks Jeff,
Looks like the set I use (.12-.52 PB) isn't in stock now. The shipping is quite high too, but I could buy multiples once they're in stock.

I have ordered both from Guitar Gallery and directly from Newtone. I find that ordering direct is easiest because they usually have things in stock where Guitar Gallery is sometimes out of certain gauges.

Best,
Jayne

I'll have to change that to 'they are available but only through exclusively selected dealers!'

BTW-These strings sound absolutely gorgeous on an all-mahogany guitar (mine is a Taylor GC). Rich, woody, almost jazzy.

I’m eager to try my first ever set this month. Medium MC 80-20s on a 12-fret D-18. Hope they sound awesome!

I really like them and use four different types.

We have no distributors down here so I’ve been buying them direct from the maker for years. It works great and delivery has been fast and cheap.

The bonus is that all my money is going direct to the people actually making these excellent strings. I can’t imagine that it’s a gold mine of a business and I expect that if we help them by buying direct they’ll have a better chance of staying in business.

Marty,

Glad it worked out. I switched from the PBs to the nickels last night. The first sounded very good but the second are a definite step closer to the tone in my head. It’s great fun (and not an onerous investment) to experiment and see how sets interact with a particular instrument. Still need to try the Martins, but the Newtones are, I think, my preference for nickel with this Taylor over the D’addario and John Pearse sets which I’ve adored elsewhere. Looking forward to how they settle in. Throbak PBs and DR Sunbeams have also been noticeable winners with the 516.

Michael

Hey Marty,
I use Newtone Master Class 80/20 12-52s on my Carruth. When they became difficult to get through my usual sources I started ordering direct, which has worked out really well. The strings seem fresher, and lead time and shipping charges are not bad at all. Even when the strings are on back order at Newtone they don't take that long to arrive.

Ok, the shipping from Britain to my home in Ohio is $3.00
I wouldn’t consider that “high”. YMMV.
Ok, There is a $1.00 foreign exchange fee as well....whoopee. If I order less than the minimum dollars for free shipping from certain U.S. distributors on their string offerings, the shipping charges are more than that.
They Newtones usually arrive within seven to ten days from the moment I order them. That’s fine too.
Considering these strings are hand wound and they are darned good, I think the price and the shipping are more than reasonable.

Order them now and they will ship when available. Many of the strings Newtone offers are on an “as ordered” basis anyway.
I believe your credit card won’t be charged until they ship.
