Default A Near Miss! *ack*

Shabby little indoor flea market on the other side of town. I stop in now and then just to see what they have. When I asked a lady vendor if she had any guitars for sale she tells me she just sold her last guitar an hour ago - a 1939 Gibson L-7 semi-hollow body jazz archtop (?) Get this - $100 with original case. She showed me pictures. Missed it by an hour! She has no idea what she had just sold....mercy.

I guess we can only hope the purchaser truly appreciates their good fortune and that the guitar is preserved, played and passed on to other loving hands.

Better luck next time to us all.

How much would it bite if the guy that bought it thought it was just a cheap $100 guitar and treated it as such.I dont think I could take the guitar from a person that didnt know what they had for just $100

That's not a 'lady vendor' that's Beelzebub (no relative) playing games with you.

Could be. How'd she know it was a 1939 Gibson L-7 but not know what she could sell it for? It just now took me 43 seconds to search prices for those. If she couldn't afford the time to do that her time must be pretty valuable.

Anyone knowing what the model was would know how much it was worth. Doesn’t add up.

This was the first thing that came to mind. Had to re-read the OP. Even if the OP could ID the model from photos, the year would be a little tougher.

The second thing that came to mind was that we're a month shy of April 1st.

I think the high road would have been to at least know she was aware of the fair market value before buying it, and making an offer more respective of that value. After all, I would still need to be able to look into a mirror after that.

My thought is the guitar never existed,
She was messing with your head,
I know people that would do that,

She gave you the impression she did not know guitars. It would keep you coming back to see if you could cheat her out of a guitar.

You have been played.
