Thank you montestad. Mike won't let a builder rock along in a comfortable rut. Always a challenge to make something simple yet different.

Thank you brother. Its the red queen effect (a Louis Carrol literary reference). She just ran as hard as she could to stay in one place. I think this makes sense

Gorgeous work John! Again and again....you just keep crankin' out beauties and this is certainly one of them. It is exactly what I wanted...simplicity on the front and letting the wood do the talking on the back. The idea you had for the neck is awesome. From what you've told me about tone, can't wait to get my hands on it. Thanks again for being willing to step outside of the box. Love working with you!!

Certainly a beautiful guitar guys. Mike will have to break from playing often to spin her around and take in the splendor of the backside. Impressive work JK. Congrats Mike!

Thanks Denis. Mike picked out this guitar set when he visited the shop. That is one good reason for making a personal appearance. I had this set on the back burner so to speak and Mike put it up front.

Thanks Dennis! You can certainly trust that I will be admiring the back a lot. My guitars usually hang face out when not being played, but this one may very well hang backwards for a while lol.

Dang, can you fret notes while wearing a jewelers polishing glove? It would hurt my stomach everytime I'd hear my wedding ring clank against that neck.

Would love to hear your Personal description of tone from this guitar J.Kinnaird. What qualities do you attribute to this combination of woods.

Im very pleased with the tone. Solid crisp bass notes that seem to spring out with just a suggestion of a pluck and ice water treble notes with no nasal twang. This all sounds rather immodest, but it is a responsive guitar.

Im not sure any more how much the woods contribute and how much manipulation of the wood being used contributes. I like a responsive top, which can be had in a lot of different species of conifer. The back and sides of bubinga are hard with a crisp tap tone. I think a number of back/side woods could have been used with very similar results. I always use red spruce braces, not because they are necessarily better than sitka or european but because im familiar with them and pretty well know what to expect.
I know this does not help much. My advice to anyone thinking about a build is to block woods into big general categories, rosewood like, mahogany like, and maybe maple like, then find a luthier you like and look for sex appeal within you chosen group.

Great Advice & well spoken! So in your own words of putting woods into a general category, would you say that Bubinga has a Rosewood like characteristics? or other? I know that some people have categorized it as Rosewood like, and others say a combination there of.
