SOLD 2012 Traugott model R spruce brazilian
There are lots of great builders out there but my personal favorite is Jeff Traugott. In a word, brilliant. This is a 2012 Traugott model R. This guitar easily beat and exceeded all of my expectations. First thing I noticed when I picked it up was how light it was. Probably why it’s so resonant. Playability is wonderful. Craftsmanship is as good as it gets. Sounds amazing in standard tuning and heavenly in alternate tunings. The guitar features a German spruce top with lots of bear claw and Brazilian back and sides. Just a stunner!! This guitar has tons of volume and sustain. Extremely will balanced and versatile. You can play any style on this baby. The guitar is in excellent condition but not mint. It has some see in the light indents and scratches and a ding on the back of the headstock. Comes with a Calton case also in near mint condition. Jeff's guitars now begin at $30,500.
I am looking to get $19000 plus shipping and any fees. $11k less then a new one so a great deal. Price reduced to $18500 plus shipping and and fees priced reduced$18000 plus shipping and any fees $17500 plus shipping and fees This guitar was purchased through Dream guitars and they still have a video on YouTube of this guitar. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJL8F9tqptI You can also hear this guitar on Al petteway’s new CD A collectors passion. Its used on track number 8 called Mama Bear Rag. You hear this on his web site or stream it on spotify. This guitar also shows up in dreamguitars' feature on several traugotts all played seamlessly on the same song one after another.
I have just got a traugott model r and it is certainly unlike any other guitar I have ever owned or played. Fat fundamental that is clearer than any other but with a cloud of harmonics that palpably resonate and bloom in the air as they interact with each other. Far greater projection than is apparent to the guitarist. The whole guitar resonates but always under control. A world class guitsr that is fit for a concert guitarist like coulter or De grassi. All the best for your sale.

Bump for a fantastic Traugott. I owned a Braz. Model R, without question one of the finest guitars ever. Jeff T.’s tonewoods are the absolute cream of the crop. Part of the reason Jeff’s guitars command such high price tags (in addition to his incredible skills as a luthier) is the high cost of the tonewoods he has procured and builds with - this stuff is not cheap. I would guess many Traugotts have as much, or close to, raw material cost to the builder in them as the price at which many fine guitars change hands on this forum!
Hope this one finds a new home and a grateful owner. |

I believe traugott manages to buy a very large stash of high quality brazilian rosewood from a cabinet maker or some kind of artisan who was retiring at the time when he had just set up his own shop. He has been mainly using brazilian rosewood from that stash ever since.
I agree that he has some of the best brazilian rosewood of any luthier in the world today. I think the set on mine would have been seen as a primo set by Martin in the 1930s. Quote:
