I'll second Todd's appraisal of Tim's golf game, although Tim doesn't always line up his putts quite as well as his purfling.

And while we're on the subject of purfling, allow me to add a big thumbs-up to the blue accents on this guitar. Coupled with the dark wood, it's aesthetically stunning without being flashy. Absolutely love it.

Also, back to sound ports, would like to agree with Paul on the value of a sound port in concert situations where the monitors are ineffective (if you've monitors at all). The sound port brings your playing right up to your ears; your guitar sound is not lost out in front, blending with the other instruments and hubbub.

Totally agree. This makes a lot of sense and a huge benefit of sound ports. But still mulling over sound port design options/layout...

Btw, thanks for positive thoughts on the aesthetics! That's the overarching goal I had in mind when I first collaborated with Tim & Mary on this build -- to be simple yet elegant.

Wellllll, once upon a time, many, many moons ago, in a previous life... I used to know how to play the game, even at "scratch" level but those days have long passed me by. I do miss playing at that level but as most golfers know its something that takes a LOT of time and due diligence. Family priorities took over where they should and golf was and is a fleeting memory.

How truly spoken Kurt, at least about my lost putting skills. I think I have ventured out to a course less than a dozen times over the last 4 or 5 years. Its just not as enjoyable anymore knowing what once was and no longer is...

It's fun to watch your design come into play at our shop. I just wish I could bottle the fragrance and send it to you. Certainly someone in te4h AGF is smarter than the average bear to hone in on that idea. I'll be happy to take 3% of the profits for the idea. It would be a big seller!

I can show you the humidity controlled room but until you have been in there to remember the fragrance of all those woods ... it's just a room.

Haha, well...I guess I just have to settle for the next best thing to being out there in person. But totally agree -- nothing quite like the sweet and fragrant aroma of natural woods!

As luck would have it we had a minor set back. The motor on our large air compressor burnt up and we had to order a new one. $450 for a new motor plus shipping, ouch. Last year the motor went out on our large bandsaw and it was even more costly. For the sake of transparency set backs like these happen and are rarely known by the customer and general public. I am not complaining as "stuff happens" and its all part of doing business. Pictures should start flowing in a few days after we are back up to speed again.

But we are back in order.

Listen ... the air compressor is humming in the shop. The side sound port is now in place. Life is good!

Tim & Mary - really appreciate the transparency, and as I've mentioned several times already, the level of engagement and updates that you both provide are unparalleled. Exceptional.
So, with that said, regarding the "set-back", absolutely no worries at all from my perspective in terms of the "delay". You've been zooming along on this process, and way ahead of the delivery date I was originally expecting....so ZERO complaints from my end!

The guitar...with the shine...and all the details now really coming through....gorgeous! As you know, when we collaborated on the design at the beginning of this whole build....I told you both I wanted a relatively simple yet elegant look....and I must say...you guys have nailed it!

What a lovely guitar...adding another 'thumbs up' for the incredible, understated elegance with the blue accents.

I'm so glad you went for a soundport, John. I think you'll love it. The execution of this one adds to the aesthetic and beauty of the guitar - great choice! Even has a wonderful name (Luckenbooth Medallion) - I did not know Luckenbooth is one of the most romantic Scottish symbols of love. Is there a story behind that selection?

Can't wait to see the instrument advance into final form soon...
