Once Tony has applied his magic, and John attaches the wonderful neck and head stock he’s working on, I believe I will have my lifetime guitar.
It will be awhile to come back from Tony but totally worth the wait.
A big Thank You to everyone who has been making such wonderful comments about “The Hippo”. Lol I’m certainly anxious to wrap my arms around it.
Thank you John!
Thanks Tory
It’s been fun so far bringing the hippo to life.

Hey bro, very nice looking guitar. I think the Tree accents work just fine in those bevels. Clever idea.

Thank you Brother,
and thanks especially for The Tree accents that grace The Bevels on this thing.

I like it that the The Tree mahogany is so dark that it blends with the ebony showing a change of color but not a jarring transition. No need to feather in the mahogany with a "black burst"

These are the best slothead 3 on a plate tuners I have ever used or seen. It has ball bearings on each end that are just a scotch larger in diameter than the roller itself. You can't see it but the bearings are a press fit into the 10mm hole and the rollers themselves ride on the bearings not the wood. Plus they be very pretty

Way to go John. Those tuners go so very well with that headstock. Love it. Once that Brazilian gets under finish I expect it to pop and look spectacular. It just keeps getting better and better.

When John and I first talked about this build, I asked him to select the best materials for what I could afford. I also told him that I was hoping for a classy but unique guitar with great curb appeal. A lifetime guitar to grow old with.
To my eye, John has successfully done just that. Knowing what’s still yet to come, I couldn’t be more pleased.
Well done John. You have somehow managed to build a handsome, brand new, unique guitar, that already looks like an old friend.
And even better, it’s built by someone who now feels like an old friend.
