I could go on in great detail but the decade boils down to this:
  • Some crappy things happened and some awesome things happened. Thatís life.
  • I get up, I get down and no two days are the same. Thatís also life.
  • I work hard, try to play hard and love as much as Iím capable of.
  • I deal with my demons and take joy in my kids and their lives.
  • I root for my wife.
  • I think about the past fondly, usually without serious regret, and realize the sandís running a little thin in the glass.
  • I try to stimulate my mind and be aware.
  • I seek forgiveness and try to accept others with grace.

We only get one shot and we sometimes donít have a lot to say about how itís going. Thatís a lesson Iíve learned.

This decade? Much like all of them for me.

On a personal level it has been a decade where I saw the realization of many of my professional dreams.

It has been the third decade of my marriage and the fourth begins next July. It just seems to get better and better.

It has also been the fourth decade of guitar playing for me, and one of great fulfillment.

It has been said that good things come to those who wait. With the exception of the bio-electrical issues, I've seen this happen. I think I might alter the saying to "good things come to those who wait and invest time, effort, and care."

Yep, I'm hopeful but not optimistic. Combine failure to distinguish emotion from reason together with the bandwagon effect, then amplify that with technology, and humanity spirals. For example, I was taught in grade school that we count using base 10, and the first group of 10 ends with "10," not 9. Of course base 10 is arbitrary, and we can count using base 4 if desired. But seems we just love the poetic effect of imagining the bigger placeholder, 1 changing to 2. Emotional thinking, because there was no year 0 Anno Domini. We are therefore robbing the first decade AD of enjoying a full decade if we fail to wait for that first "10" to be included, and so on. But the bandwagon is heavy now. Of course, emotion and bandwagon can also be used for good. "Humanity spirals" could go upward, not downward, given the right leaders.
Either way, I have another year to go in this decade. (Partypooper.)

Like everyone else both good and not so good occurred this past decade.
Personally the decade was very eventful with the end of my professional career, loss of both parents, passing of a wonderful dog and myself undergoing several surgical procedures.

On the positive, gaining financial stability, adopting a new great dog, and moving to a beautiful part of North America was gratifying.

There is one global aspect that concerns me about the past 10 years:
It is the continuing consolidation and dominance by large corporate entities over many aspects of our lives.

Musically,I have been able to improve my musicianship whereby I can officially claim a "semi professional" musician status.
