Default Myers pickups

So I have been posting the last week or so about different opinions on micing my guitar and someone mentioned the Soundhole mics made by Myers. They however hadn't had any experience with them just that they got great reviews. Does anyone have any experience with them?

i don't have any experience with myers pickups so i'm just static, sorry.

i'm not too excited about the idea of sticking the preamp to my guitar top so near the sound hole. it seems like it would be in the way. too bad they couldn't make it so you could stick it to the side of the guitar instead.

Seek and ye shall find:

The mic can use either a clip-on or suction-cup mount (both provided) $169.00

Want to mix your onboard pickup with a mic? Get the Myers "The Blend" system. It comes with a preamp and a mic with a special mounting harness and it's quickly installed or removed with no alteration to your guitar. The Blend $179.00

Myers Mic Tensioner (MMT) that easily keeps the Flexible Micro-Gooseneck safely in place without damaging your instrument in any way.

I have one somewhere in my studio, can't find it right now, and the issues I had with it I suspect would apply to most any mic of it's type, which is the when I placed it for best sound, it was always in the way. I also never trusted my abilities to not yank it off by stepping on a chord or something else stupid. It worked best for me on my dobro with the mic stuck into the cone. It sounds fine.

another possible complaint i can see with it is the pre-amp doesn't appear to have any type of eq.. tone controls.

despite my somewhat negative comments, i am actually pretty interested in this pickup. i have been emailing with the company asking a few questions. if i buy one of these it'll probably be the feather version so i can clip the preamp onto my guitar strap or belt, etc. they offer a 30 day trial/return for full refund if you don't like it.

i have a little martin 000 i'd like to use for open mic stuff and this seems like a possible solution. additionally, the convenience of being able to move it to any other guitar is a real nice perk.

SpruceTop, do you use one of these myers pickups yourself?

i asked that question of the company and the answer was not far off. double sided tape and wood screws. hmm. not terribly reassuring.

I don't use Myers pickups but I've been interested in them for about a year ever since one of our AGF members provided a link to the company. Other than fellow AGF'er, Brick, I don't think anyone else has posted any experience with Myers products.

i'm trying to convince myself to pull the trigger on a grip 6". my hope is that i can mount the pre box via the suction cup to the lower side of my guitar near the neck, and shape the flex gooseneck in an out of the way fashion into the soundhole.
