Best chair to sit in while playing guitar?
So what's the best chair to use while playing guitar? I have one right now that is terrible, so I'll probably be getting something better
What I'm thinking is that it definately can't have arms, and should have adjustable height and back. Something like the below picture. I should also mention that I play steel string right handed, and typically prefer to rest the guitar on the right knee- so not the classical pose, although that's probably ergonomically superior Post suggestions if you have them, preferably with pictures so I can visualize what I should be looking for. I don't need anything fancy, just has to be functional. |

I started with this:
and ended with this: Took about a half hour with a screwdriver, hand drill and a hand saw. f-d

IMHO, you can't do better than a Sound Seat. I have two of them and know J.R. personally...he's a great guy. Hopefully he'll be taking orders again, soon.

Is a cat one of the options that is available?

I've drooled over one of these chairs for a while, pity they were not available in the UK

For years I've been using this:
But lately I've been a lot more comfortable in a straight back wooden chair; with or without seat cusion. I find I don't get as tired; and my lower back doesn't hurt when I'm done. |

Hi Rilo…
My SoundSeat is the best I've ever had. I sit in it for lessons, rehearsals, and toss it in the car for sit-down gigs. It is several years old (between 5-6) and shows no signs of wear. I have short legs, so I ordered it with the short piston and it's great. I probably use it for playing these days between 5-7 hours weekly. |

Another vote for Soundseat. Hopefully J.R. will be up and running again before too long. In the meantime, watch for "used" on the forums. I know they show up about as often as inexpensive pre-war Martins, but that's actually where I got mine (the Soundseat, not the Martin).

I might have to do this for the porch.

I have had my soundseat for a few years. I agree it is the ultimate players chair. It is built like a tiger tank and it's adjustability makes it very flexible for many styles . I also hope JR gets goin again.
