Default Just ordered a Player Telecaster

Just bought my first two electrics in the past four months. Bought two Gretsch and am thoroughly enjoying both. Always thought a Tele would be cool to have for both sound and the iconic nature of them.

My lack of ability made it a bit difficult to justify but that’s never stopped me. I found a very nice deal on a Sienna sunburst version Player (MIM) at MF. I called them to be sure it would be a new in box unit and they assured me it will be new from their Kansas warehouse. I’m going on faith on that, I figure their return policy takes a lot of the gamble out of it. Anyway over the last few months I’ve read a lot of good things about the Mexico models and i’m Looking forward to the maple fretboard just for something different.

Anyone else have one of these?

I've had two. One I sold because I bought something else. Missed it, so... A couple of weeks ago I picked one up on Craigslist. I enjoy them a lot!

Pics required when you get it!

Hard to go wrong with a Tele. I went into a GC in January to look at acoustic guitars and they had a Tele player in the surf green color on clearance at $539 so I took that as a sign and it went home with me.

Yep me too. They have the sienna sunburst on sale right now for $649. That was close enough for me to consider it a sign

Tele is closest to an acoustic guitar of all the electrics
the greatest no nonsense guitar

He got it right the first time.. with the Esquire
using 4 pine pieces glued together for the body .. from the amp crates genius...
and no truss rod

these sound the best

Took me thirty years to get my first Tele, now I have two. They are tone machines. Congratulations on yours.

Thanks. The UPS truck is in my neighborhood! I’ll post picks in a day or so.i’m a little annoyed because MF told me it would be shipped out of their Kansas City warehouse but it is actually coming from a Guitar Center in S.C. As long as it’s brand new i won’t mind.

good luck with the delivery.

I'd be checking that it wasn't a return myself, hopefully it's all good.

MF and GC are different wings of the same bird.

I stopped buying from MF a long time ago after a few poor experiences and I wont even walk into a GC.

Sweetwater is the only place I will buy on line from.

Yeah I bought both my Gretches from Sweetwater this year and I ordered this Tele from MF against my better judgement. It really was a nice deal as long as the guitar is new. With their return policy I think I will be o.k. Hopefully that doesn’t come into play though.

Well I’m happy to report it is a brand new still in unopened factory box. All plastic and tags in place. It’s also a 2021 model. I was half expecting a new old stock because they’ve had this same “limited edition” since 2019. It’s a beauty. I’ll play it for a few days and probably put some 10-46 strings on it. It came with 9-42. I’ll update in a new post.

Fantastic! Congrats on the Tele. Great thing about ordering from MF is the no hassle return policy. Looking forward to hear about how it plays and sounds. Enjoy!

Almost too good looking for a Telecaster! Nice problem to have.

Now that we've got that out of the way, a suggestion for strings:

Like the old school Fender 150L set

Pure nickel wraps work great on a Tele, and this set's range of gauges is like what used to be a common set in the 1970s. Teles have a nice snappy, twangy low end riff protentional and I like that I can bend this sets lowest strings without a whammy bar on a Tele.
