Due to Jakes putting together two music festivals, the inaugural Camp Greensky Music Festival, May 31 through June 2 and Hoxeyville Music Festival Aug 17-19, progress on my guitar has been slow. He has some of the neck work done and hopes to finish it and get the binding glued up soon. here are a couple neck shots.

It has been a while...here are a few snapshots from todays visit to Robinson Guitars.Sorry for the rotated images, I cannot seem to get them right.

Now that the first of two music festivals he puts on is behind us, Jake will be sanding the body then router the binding and end groves, install the binding and hopefully set the neck next week.

The burled walnut on the headstock underlay is from my family's Veneer company, Kestel Veneers. My wives grandfather started the business in 1929/30 and we still have a bunch of his inventory of fine veneer.

Starting to look like a geetar!

When you get it done, I may have to make a stop up there!

Things are coming together. Purfling and bindings are in place and the glue is drying.

Smile Late to another party...

I am late here... sigh

But glad I saw this. What a beauty! Jakes guitars have a fine rep and this one is going to be FINE!!!

Love the headstock back plate of your cool veneer!

I am jealous as my custom John Kinnairds would require a cross country trip to check out in progress... you are so fortunate to be SO close.

Have fun

Paul

Thanks Paul. Jake does a great job with his guitars.

As I shared in another post, the Burled Walnut veneer is from our family's veneer business that my wife grandfather started in 1929, so it is special! He was known as the Baron of Rosewood. At one time he owned more Brazilian Rosewood than anyone in the world. We still have quite a stash...all documented of course! A lot of it was purchased in the 30's & 40's. The heel cap on the neck will have the Burl too.

It is cool to be able to drop by Jakes shop whenever I want, but is hard to not stop by every day. Luckily I have been able to control myself and keep it to a minimum.

Hope to get some photos next week just before spraying and after the first few coats have been applied.

Stay tuned.

The first couple coats of finish have been applied. The beauty of the wood is starting to show through, even though the poor lighting does not do it justice.

We are getting closer...a lot closer. Finishing should wrap up this week, then it is on to final assembly...neck, bridge, saddle, nut, tuners and set up. Hopefully within the next two weeks I will have it.

No photos this time around....I am just going to wait until it is completed

EDIT....I will share one. I love the Amboyna Burl rosette!
