John Pearce fast turtle picks. They’re casein and 10 bucks.

Multiple thicknesses, the 4mm has a fantastic concave shape for the thumb. I thought I wouldn’t like it, but ok and behold, fantastic. Great shape to the bevels too.

A nice mid-price fancy pick.
CFW, exactly so. In fact I first discovered the casein material by playing those JP Fast Turtles about four years ago and it was love at first sight. That remains my favorite go-to material for all my playing. Just wonderful warm, balanced, quiet tone. In my view, the Jon Pearse casein models are the best value in the premium pick market space. Everyone should try one. Below that there a lot of great choices as well, in particular Wegen and Dunlop Primetones and Ultexes. The most beautiful picks on the planet are made by Red Bear, also using casein. I mean, they are just stunningly gorgeous. He's been doing it almost twenty years, so he has the buff and polish down, and that is a REAL challenge with that material, let me tell you.

Anyway, always like to tell people where these values are. I totally backed into the industry myself by looking for a suitable replacement for my old genuine TS picks. When I played casein I knew that that was likely as close as I'd get to the real thing, and that opinion hasn't changed in over three years now.

Long Jon: I stand corrected on the Wolfram models. David's a real classy guy and deserves all the props he gets here and elsewhere. Glad to hear you're enjoying his products.
