Default Guitar Center Play Money

Friends:

The zombie thread about the best guitar deal you ever had emboldens me to ask a question I've been wondering about.

Here's the thought experiment:

Imagine that a guy walks up to you, hands you $300 bucks-- with the condition that you walk into Guitar Center and spend it on a new acoustic guitar for yourself.

What would you buy?

I'm really curious about your answers. Remember--you are buying for you. So that includes everybody here with seventy delicious Martins in their signature. No fair buying for a grandson. It can be something you'd be curious about. Something to use for firewood. But you have to buy a guitar with it.

Breedlove Discovery Concertina, a parlor guitar that runs $299 at GC.

I'd purchase a Gretsch G9521, but I think it may have been discontinued....

Ditto, but I don’t need 2 of them!

So some sort of small body “blues box,” but I’ve yet to find one I like in this price range.

I'd be trying one of the less expensive Yamahas, without a doubt - unless there was a playable resonator of some description available.

$300 ???

Probably an Alvarez Artist Parlor or Folk. On sale those get under 3-bills.

If the low end Breedlove Nylon is on sale (or used) then one of those, as I could use a Nylon with a pickup.

Maybe a short-scale electric Bass. I have been meaning to learn bass.

I'd buy an inexpensive 12-string. Probably an Alvarez or Yamaha.

Using the 15%-20% discount I always get, of course.

Do you have access to Eastman guitars? I just picked up a pretty sweet E2 OM-CD for about $450 that punches way above it's weight class.
