Trying a set of Martin Titaniums

Picked up a set from a forum member. For those that have tried them, thoughts on whether to put them on a mahogany B&S, cherry B&S, or a rosewood B&S? Quite a problem I know! Also, having heard about breakage during install, anything I should know? Thanks!

Welcome to the club (sort of). Brucebubs and I are the self-proclaimed Titanium String afficianados of sorts.
I've used several sets, never had a breakage issue but I have read others have.
Just be sure to tighten them to pitch before you cut off the excess.
As far as which type of guitar wood they are best suited for. Well, it's kind of a crapshoot but not in a bad way. IMHO they sound great on Spruce and Mahogany and especially good on my J45.
You should notice they are smoother to the touch and easy to play right away.
They also don't really "break in" like PB's or other string materials, they are kind of broken in. They sound good and stay sounding good for a long time.
We will anxiously await your opinion.

Don't go crazy when you first stretch them. As mentioned, they really won't stretch much.

I haven't tried these myself, but from what I understand these are nickel wrap w/ the titanium core - basically going to sound in a similar arena to other nickel strings, so more fundamental (ie. great on a hog guitar).

I agree with this. Also, I formerly used the “locking” restringing method where you go over and under the string at the winding peg before winding. Don’t use this method w Titaniums because you have to pull that loose end tight and at an angle....the titanium G-String snapped right at the bend when I pulled it tight, never had that happen before in 45 years......(I no longer use the locking method on any strings.)

Just general questions are these strings closer to 80/20, PB, or Aluminum Bronze in tonal quality?

I think it was rokdog49 that coined the phrase 'Monels on steroids'.
Excellent volume, sustain and balance.
I kept mine on rosewood jumbo guitar for 8 months - their tuning stability was uncanny for the first 6 months - they held tune superbly but I must point out I did not try alternate tunings with these strings - I kept them in the same tune the entire time they were on the guitar.
I would buy them again if they weren't so expensive here in Australia.

Note: same guitar is currently enjoying DR Sunbeams.
