If you regularly perform standing without a straplock it is an accident waiting to happen.

A Grolsch beer bottle gasket is perfect...and free (after you drink the beer).

Got that tip from Nels Cline.

Seems like this is more about whether you use a strap or not. For some reason I do better playing up the neck standing up with a strap, so I have one on all my guitars.

I also use the Fender rubber washers in Le Dave's photo. I've used the beer bottle washers or got them from the hardware store. but the Fender washers seem to be just the right size and fit. They come 2 pair in a pack black and red, costing as much as a rum and coke at a bar. Small price for some added security. You don't think about these things till you have a strap pop off and manage to catch the guitar on the way to the floor just in time.

+1. I bought 100 of those Grolsch gaskets and I have them on a few electric guitars now. I also bought 4 of the Fender ones and they work just as well but are very more expensive.

I have a few sets of the Schaller strap locks but I need to install them on my Les Pauls. I also have a Dunlop set that is on one of my electrics.

I have never needed to use one, but I'm sure the poor folks who have had their guitar go crashing to the floor would say different. If I did play standing up there would be no doubt I would.

I use Schaller strap locks on all my guitars, acoustic and electric. I've seen guitars hit the floor on a couple of occasions, and nearly had it happen to me ... once. Once was enough. The guitars I've seen that slipped off landed hard, usually at an angle, and the end result was not pretty.

I use them on my electrics, but I don't find I need them on the acoustics.
