Default Need some more classical eye candy

I admit I enjoy looking at all the guitars on the main forum page as there are some very nice looking instruments there, but sadly there are not enough classical/nylon guitars on there. I guess we're the minority here

I am expecting a new guitar, if the builder shares some WIP pictures I might start a thread in the custom shop forum

With all respect, i dont think we need classical eye candy
only because , we the minority never went in for fancy bling
and how much is spent
(and plenty is spent) we put more emphisis on whats played, not what its played on.
BUT i could be wrong..

I hear ya, but I still like looking at them. I find the beauty in how much the guitar is understated. Perhaps eye candy is the wrong term as I prefer the simplicity in looks of the classical guitar, but I still love to see them dull and plain pictures

I'm sure I am somewhat wrong about this, but my sense is that classical guitars tend to all look a lot more alike than steel string guitars. I probably have just seen enough really high end classicals though!

Classical guitars certainly don't all sound a like though!

I think to a point, yes - but there are sure differences in the grains and shades in the woods, the shapes of the headstocks, the colors and patterns of the rosettes and bridge tie blocks, and even the labels. I always look forward to my catalogs from Guitar Salon, even though I could never afford half of what is in them.

Creamy adirondack and lovely dark Indian rosewood. Sounds dreamy! Enjoy the pics.

Waddy , i wish you never chimed in on this...

Visually, classical guitars dont attract me,, i have a few classicals and its all

tonal considerations that brought me to the choices i made.

than along came Waddy ,,, i have never played one, but Waddy

knows how to build a visually stunning guitar... based on cosmetics

alone,, i think Waddys are some of the nicest i have ever seen,, and

never gaudy.. all in good taste,, now Waddy, do me a favor and dont

post anymore pics,,, I need the "out of site, out of mind' thing.

Rick

My Burguet 3M looks kind of like a clone of Bob Womak's Cordoba. So, look at his photos and you'll see what mine looks like!

OK, actually, my Burguet does look somewhat different. It has a darker colored cedar top, and the grain is quite different on the back.

It is funny, for the longest time I never really saw my Burguet as being anything special to look at. I chose it for its wonderful tone and great dynamic range, and never really thought much about what it looks like. I always saw it in my mind as being quite plain. But one day when I was playing music with another guy someone (a classical player) stopped by to listen for a bit and commented on how pretty my guitar was, which sort of surprised me. My daughter also later commented that she always found it very pretty as well. Then eventually, after not playing it for a while (because I was too distracted by my steel string guitars for about a year) I got it out and actually looked at it, sort of with fresh eyes, and realized they were correct. It has very pretty rosewood backs and sides, and though it was not an expensive guitar as these things go, it has pretty details.

OK, now I need to take some photos I guess...
