Well, I bought some forty over a fifteen years lapse
and never had any reason to return any. At the beginning, I had no idea guitars had specs you see ! So I experienced, understood and sold some twenty-five of those.

I've bought a sold too many guitars. But, I don't return very often. Usually a return, in my case, is buyer's remorse and I don't think it's fair to the retailer. My own mental hang up. However, I recently returned a guitar that did not arrive as described, in a fairly significant way, in my opinion.

I have never returned a guitar. That said, I don't go through them like some do. I don't buy to try.

How many times have you returned guitars?
I don't remember ever having returned a newly purchased guitar. But I imagine I would if it wasn't right for me. - Glenn

I have never returned any of my guitars, I've also never sold or traded any of my guitars, I have seven.
Some of the replies I find quite amusing as having said never returned, but I know some people have sold or traded not long after acquiring them and, have gone through quite a number.

Twice for me.
Both times from Guitar Center. One was a used Yamaha LL-16-12 that was not as described. The other was a new Martin GC special build that had a bad neck angle. Both times GC made it right and I'm happy with the results.

I’ve returned one Squire Strat and several Martins to GC. Each Martinreturn was followed up with a more expensive Martin purchase. Go figure.

Returning a guitar because one gets it home and they realize there is something wrong with it or they just don't like about it, in this day and age I can see that. But buying a guitar to play, knowing full well they are going to return it when they are done, that doesn't sit well with me. And I know that is done because I've seen it suggested here before.

I returned a Sheeran by Lowden guitar to a shop (bought online, sight unseen). Because it was one of the worst acoustic guitars I have ever played.

The short answer? NEVER...
I'm not a frivolous buyer; I do my research and get very clear on what I want and need from an instrument... and then I find the best one I can for what I can afford... And then? I play it. A LOT! Even though I've been playing acoustic guitar for over 60 years, it still takes me many hundreds of hours to truly "get to know" a new guitar, to become accustomed to the feel, to learn how to make all the sounds I want to hear from it. To quote Norman Blake: "There is no substitute for time behind the box"!!!

Over the years I have returned several; most of them damaged in shipping.

I've bought and sold well over 200 guitars - I've NEVER returned one just because it didn't suit me.
I have returned probably 40 or more because they were severely misrepresented in regard to condition.

I have returned three. One was an early 90's 000-16 that had some unattractive bear claw on the top, before bear claw was a "thing". It just looked like a defective top. Number two was a custom short-scale carbon fiber that had terrible tone compared to the identical stock model that it was meant to replace.... chalk and cheese as our English cousins would say. The third was a double neck guitar, and the separation space/angle between the necks just did not work for my playing style and position. It was impeccably made and uniquely beautiful, but required too much shifting between positions to use both necks. It also would have brutal to change strings on the twelve string neck given the minimal clearance.
