Default Bluetooth mixers and phones

This may have been answered before. If I have a speaker with a built in mixer and I control the mixer using an app on my phone, what happens if the phone rings or I get a text? Can I set it up so that I don't hear any sounds from my phone?

I was at looking speakers like the Evolve 30m or 50m, Bose L1 Pro 16 or QSC K10.2.

You answer it and tell them you’re busy - no harm done. The “phone” part of the phone and the “computer” part of the phone share some resources but they don’t really talk to each other.

If you’re playing music off your phone that’s a bit different because the audio system is one of those resources they share, but app control of a mixer shouldn’t be an issue.

I sometimes have folks playing music for Irish dancers in the break at a gig and I tell them to put their phone in airplane mode to avoid such interruptions. If they’re relying on mobile data for the music I tell them to switch that back on separately and cross their fingers.

I have the 30M and it has TWO Bluetooth connections... One for the control app, and one for audio. If my phone is running the control app only, any sounds the phone makes are NOT sent to the mixer.

If the phone is also a Bluetooth audio source, then the BT audio output will be the phone's mixed audio including notifications. In that case, I would just turn on Do Not Disturb mode.

I use the mixer app on my phone for my Bose L1 Pro8 and have never had any issues during a performance. If I get a call while I'm streaming music between sets, that would come through the Bose, but I can't remember the last time I got a call during a gig.

My Android has a Do Not Disturb function. See if your phone has that and it so, set that on during a gig.
