How much 'talking' goes on between songs is really determined by the venue & audience. If you are playing a bar or restaurant, keep it to an absolute minimum. If you are playing a 'listening room'/house concert, then a funny story or short song introduction is good - but not between every song, either. I hear people at shows who can belt out a song but when they talk, they are talking much more softly than when singing, and consequently people can't hear all of what they are saying - avoid that issue.
