yeah, he was insanely talented and one of the best guitar players ever....and bass players ever....and keyboard players ever....and drummers ever....and dancers ever.....and singers ever.....and songwriters ever.... and producers ever....etc.....etc.

I can't even imagine anyone as complete a musician as he was.

Prince was one of those rare talents where the fans loved him, and he was also a "musician's musician". Often one doesn't follow the other, but in his case it did.

One of the most talented musician/multi-instrumentalist/songwriter of our time.

He was a prodigy for sure.
I never really appreciated him until I went back and listened to some of his albums as opposed to what got airplay on the radio.

Yeah...I agree with all of that. An amazing artist and entertainer across the board. Think my favorite "Prince Moment" is at the 2004 Hall Of Fame Inductions...

I really like the demo album released in the last few years called “Piano and a Microphone 1983”

Mary Don’t You Weep is maybe my favorite thing he’s ever done. There’s a cover of River by Joni Mitchell on a tribute album that’s maybe tied. Both piano pieces even though he’s maybe thought of as more of a guitar player.

For someone who was 5'3" tall, his fingers - and thumb - are all over that neck. His thumb is reaching down at least 2 strings. Either he plays a very narrow neck or has large hands/fingers. Or both.

Thanks for posting that, Jim. He had total control. Good thing he took the last solo!

Not only could he play guitar, piano and all those other instruments, but he knew how to play the crowd, too. He had them eating out of his hand. One of the all-time greats, for sure.
