There is usually enough scrap from the back to book match a head plate.

Have you tried rotating the head plate to center the dark stripe vertically? Looks like it would be close, although I can’t see your headstock shape.

It sounds like you got a set of that fabled stinker rosewood from Mumbai.

In which case, why not match it with an ebony bridge? Would sort of balance with an ebony headplate. BTW, pair with an ebony backplate if you're using one.

Ok. We're in business. Not saying it's perfectly symmetrical, but it's what we'll call good enough.

Pretty sure redir was right and I didn't have the pipe hot enough last time.

Got the heel and neck block glued in. A bit of creative clamping seems par for the course.

Just a suggestion...

The dowels are there, in part, to clamp the sides to. If the dowels - and their slots - are in the right places, you don't really need various scraps of plywood to straddle the dowels. For example, having a dowel at the narrowest point in the waist and at the widest points in the upper and lower bouts allows you to clamp the sides to those important locations.

Yeah, when I made it I was still planning on building a dreadnaught. Extending the slots to facilitate a 000-12 meant that dowels didn't line up as well.

And, after letting it sit overnight, we have a thing that's beging to look like something. Got a little black paint from the pipe in there that needs to be sanded off.

I like your use of reversed clamps.

Why do the sides stand proud of the neck block?
