Well, I'm used to 13s on a Taylor 710, which is almost identical scale length to the Guild, so it won't hurt to try. Worst that can happen is I don't like them and switch back.

Hah, coincidentally my other guitar is a mid 90s 710. I've been using 12s on it for a while now.

Think of your guitar as a long term investment.
Whatever the cost divide by 30 years. If you plan on keeping your guitar it equals a very minimum cost every year.

When I found my Guitar it was 1987. that is 34 years. The guitar cost me $1,550 + Tax =Let's say 1,700.00 total divide that by 34 years and you get $50.00 per year for a class act Martin Guitar.
