Default Tab Writing software

I've been looking for tab writing software. Something where I can transcribe a bass line and a melody that I write separately into tab and hear a simple MIDI output before I finalize and begin actually practicing.

I've found a couple on Android but they all lack in usability or functionality. Anyone have something for PC which might fit the criteria? Preferably Linux based but Windows software would also suffice...

Guitar Pro. Multiple voices, instruments. It's very good.

Finale will do it. But it is expensive.

Tux Guitar is a Linux software which works also with Windows.
For me is the cheap version of the already mentioned GuitarPro (which I think is top class). But TuxGuitar is free so.....

Thanks TBman and Big Band, but I'm looking for free or demo to check out the functionality. TablEdit demo seems promising, albeit limited.

Good idea. I tried Tuxguitar on my phone and wasn't loving it but just checked it out on a Win machine and it looks much better. It seems a bit less intuitive than TablEdit but there's no limitations so it's more promising in the long run.

Guitar Pro offers a free 30 day full version trial. That’s how I started years - a free trial that led to buying a full license.

From their web site:

Enjoy all the Guitar Pro 7 features for 30 days so you can "Try Before You Buy". After this trial period, you will need to purchase a license to continue using the software. You can also download Guitar Pro 7 and enter your license key to reinstall the software on your computer.

Guitar Pro is far and away the best for this short of Finale/Sibelius.

Here's a freebie written by a buddy of mine. It's pretty good.

Musescore is worth a look - I know it does Tab although not sure how easy it is. I use it a lot, but just for chord charts. And it's free.
