Default Do you guys have room for one more? Joining the CF club!

Every now and then I've checked out the CF forum and have always loved the ways these guitars look. I also love my carbon mountain and road bikes. A few year ago I picked up a CA Cargo in a store and loved the sound and feel of it, but couldn't justify the purchase at the time. I travel a good amount so I'd already bought a Martin Backpacker which was cool at first but I soon learned the limitations. I then got a Traveler Pro-Series which I like, but don't love the feel of it and it's not always easy to tune.

Flash forward to the last few weeks and I started reading up on the Journey Overheads. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that this guitar would do a lot of what I wanted - pack it on the airplane, bring it on the in-laws boat instead of my Martin, use it around the campfire (rain or shine or snow), plug it in at an open mic when I'm travelling, and be available on a stand any time I feel like picking it up. But, I still wasn't sure I could justify it.

Last night a lightly used one popped up on Reverb and I decided I wanted it. I figured that I can sell the Backpacker, Traveler, Takamine beater, electric amp, Fostex MR8, and some other odds and ends that are collecting dust and it's mine. I made an offer, they accepted, so now the wait begins.

Oh, and if you see my wife around, I haven't told her, so don't say anything.

Welcome aboard - there are plenty of Journey owners here, and the reviews are good. There's always room at this friendly sub-forum - and, we'll be looking forward to some photos when your Journey arrives.

You may want to upgrade your membership to a Charter Member so you can list your equipment for sale here.

Scott;

Welcome to CF world. You are doing what many of us have done--checking out the old and bringing in the new and improved.

Also, relax. You might just as well tell your wife because she probably already knows you did something. After 52 years of marriage, I can tell you that as long it's not another woman, your wife, who loves you, will allow you just about any other indulgence that doesn't sink the economic ship.

If you don't like that advice, you can get your money back at the door. Good luck with your new guitar, I think you've made a good choice.

Hope you can find another reason ... Makes others jealous? Lasts for thousands of years?.... And now somehow not tell the wife... Ill try not to, might have to keep an eye on UNC Evy though.

Welcome aboard dude. It packs well. Taking my OF660 on a 3-day whitewater kayak/camping trip soon. No way I’d do that with a wood guitar.

Since I already have a small CF (Emerald X7) and a Journey (OF420B - Sitka/Pau Ferro) even though I lust after an overhead 0660, I can’t really justify it at this point... Maybe next week!

I hope the Journey works well for you.

Congrats on your first CF!

Re: telling your better half. We (she) decided that we had reached a guitar limit in the house, and I couldn’t bring any more guitars into the house. Well, a good opportunity to pick up a Journey cf came up, and my brain started working.

Since this would be my travel guitar, it would make sense to keep in the back of my cx5. Therefore, I really would only bring it in the house if I were to change strings. Therefore, I had the green light (in my mind) to go ahead and pick it up.

Of course, it wasn’t a secret for long - about a week after getting it, she noticed the journey in the back of my car as I was loading groceries.

Thankfully, she has an amazing sense of humor, and money is not an issue, so she now has a good story to share with her friends about me skirting the rules... and I have a fantastic guitar that travels easily!

Enjoy yours!
