Fishman Loudbox mini vs Blackstar Sonnet 60
I live in a small town and the nearest town/city that has a music store that would carry the Loudbox mini and Sonnet 60 is over 130 miles away from me.
Has anyone tried both of these amps side by side? If so, I would like to know about your opinion. Thanks, |

I too am happy with my LBM. I use it as a monitor and run the DI Out to the mixer

I’ve owned a LB Mini and a Sonnet 120. I now own a LB Artist.
The sonnet was a nice unit, but I find the LBs easier to dial in a good tone. The 120 sonnet was very bass heavy. The 60 may be different but the LBMini is a great amp

I only like my Loudbox Mini as a monitor and for testing gear. Not an impressive sound. What's worse, it attracts mildew. I have to clean it once or twice a year. Yuck. Doesn't happen to my other amps.
Never tried a Sonnet. |

Upshot- unlike so many of them out there (something I find.. 'odd :>), Fishmans can come in at least close to a 'neutral starting point. |

I have had Fishman , OK . But I ended up going to the Sonnet 120 . Called Guitar Center if you call , ship to your home and usually give you a deal. I also like the Sonnet because I can pole mount . You can’t pole mount the Fishman.

Fishman
I sold two loud box minis, and kept my roland the AC 60
Keep it on a stand. Don’t think you can get a better sound for the money in my opinion. :-) |

Thank you all for your inputs. I decided to go the convenient way for this 67 year old man with a bad back. I purchased the new Fishman Loudbox Micro. What a pleasant surprise! I never thought I would hear such a nice tone from a 5.25" woofer and a 0.75" tweeder. It's feather weight (9 lbs) and very compact. I had played the Loudbox mini (20 lbs) at a Guitar Center a couple years back and I was very impressed. But, at that time they didn't have the Blackstar Sonnet 60 (17 lbs). I can only compare the Micro with acoustic guitar amps I have now:
Kustom Sienna 30 (31 lbs), 1x 10" speaker NUX AC-25: 12 lbs, 25 watt RMS, 6.5" woofer Roland AC-33: 10.5 lbs, 2x5" woofer Tone wise the Fishman Loudbox Micro beats them all!! None of the other amps that I own has the clarity and none can produce the low notes as well as the Micro. My second favorite amp is the Roland AC-33. I could sell the Kustom Sienna 30 and the NUX AC-25 and not miss them. I like the Roland because it can be operated on 8 "AA" batteries. I just bought a very compact and light weight (3 lbs) Pure Sine Wave LifePo4 battery Power-station that I can use with the Micro for outdoor performances. The only thing I don't like about the Fishman Micro is the popping sound I hear after I turn the amp off. And I always turn down the master and channel volumes before I turn an amp on or off. It's not a loud popping sound, but I don't hear any popping sound with any of my other amps. Popping sounds are not good for speakers. That's an easy fix though; just before I turn the amp off, I plug in an 1/8" jack into the headphone port and that disconnects the woofer and the tweeder. Problem solved. Other than that I love this little amp! Once again, thank you all for your inputs. Last edited by JSB6; 02-27-2024 at 01:39 AM. |
