What was your first electric guitar?
Mine was a Kapa Cobra from the 60s. It was a single pickup in blue. I got it in about 1964 for $15. I was 9 yrs old. They were made in Rockville Md.
I'll need to find a picture. Last edited by Bluside; 02-09-2021 at 01:50 PM. |

An Epiphone Les Paul Special II I bought at the Haight-Ashbury Music Center. I kept it for a good four years as my one guitar. I'd love to play one again.

In 1965, my mom bought 12 year old me a new Epiphone Casino. It was eventually paired with a Vox Cambridge Reverb amp. I sold both when I was old enough to drive and car insurance was more important to me than my guitar. A few years later, I bought a brand new Gibson SG Standard. I paid for that myself but my mom helped by co-signing on the loan.

Something from Woolworths, forgot the name. Wish I still had it. My second was a Kapa minstrel. Definitely wish I still had that.

Aria Diamond from the sixties. The pic isn't mine. It went away sometime around 1980.

Mine was a 1980s Suzuki electric of some type. I bought it used in 1988 or so. I have no idea what model it was but I remember it was wood grain and not painted. Maybe a walnut?

My first electric was the Sears/Danelectro amp in the case. My Dad raffled off one of his shotguns at the factory to pay for it. I still have it. I had it restored. I had butchered it extensively as a youth. Gary |

A single pickup Sears/Danelectro with the amp in the case. My original guitar is long gone but I picked up that model guitar (unfortunately no amp with it) at a garage sale about 25 years ago (photo below). The guitar is completely stock except for the lizard upgrade on the lipstick pickup.

A Lafayette solid body electric that was a sort of Fender knock off. I was 11
I used to play through my dads stereo - he was an electrical engineer and rigged it up for me. A few years later I got a used 1962 Fender Jazzmaster and my dad built me a heathkit amp. Years after, I sold the Jazzmaster...I'm still crying over that...someday I will replace it.

A Recco, made by Tiesco...
Like the song, I played it 'till my fingers bled. I didn't know what a set-up was back then. 1965. It was $49 at Bellas Hess along with a world famous Paris amp with a 10" speaker. The Silvertone amp in the photo happened soon afterwards... because size matters. No, I don't still have that guitar. I did, however, make a massive upgrade to an ES-335 TDC the next year, and I do still have that.

Abominable.
Four pickups, "extra-thin" switch, hum and buzz galore, 1/2" action. Until I met a guy. More HERE. Bob

Peavey T-15 (my brother got the T-60). Traded it long ago for an acoustic guitar.... found another one 2 years ago I bought for nostalgic purposes. Not a full size guitar, neck is a bit cramped, but still sounds pretty good.

My first guitar was an early 90s Fender Telecaster. I also had an early 90s Fender P Bass at the same time. I think the only pictures of that guitar I have were from my first band, wearing a flannel shirt, jeans and hiking boots (in the summer, in South Carolina), and our singer wearing a flower print dress and cardigan, with Rainbow Brite stockings and combat boots. How totally alternative.
