Default JBL Eon One Pro at $799

https://www.sweetwater.com/store/det...ELfA&gclsrc=ds

If you're willing to live with its limitation--the ole' gain-stage handicap on the mic setting IIRC exist on this unit, as on the non-Pro--this is a lot of sound for the money at $799. As always, makes you wonder if something else is coming down the line.

It'd be lovely if there was an update to this design. Was really keen on it until the reports of overheating / hum / gain issues.

Hi Necrome,

your Shure headset mic has notoriously weak output. You will suffer from gain limits on every portable PA of this kind.

As an example from the less sensitive to the most:
Shure WH20XLR Sensitivity : -67,0 dBV/Pa (0,45 mV/Pa)
SM58 Sensitivity : -56 dBV/Pa (1,58 mV/Pa)
Electrovoice ND76 Sensitivity: -52,4 dBV/Pa (2.4mV/Pa)

Pa is the unit of pressure.

So for the same air pressure comming from your voice, a ND76 will sound WAY louder.

No worries Cuki, the Harmony Singer I use has a mic preamp so I'm pretty safe on gain issues I've been thinking of upgrading the headset mic though but they can be extremely pricey and they don't generally have reviews or shootouts for those.

In your case the harmony singer clearly makes your rig heavier.

If you did not have it, you could just have a belt mixer with gain, cable everything to it and stream wirelessly (Xvive 2.4 GHz or similar at 5GHz) to a Bose S1 pro or JBL eon one compact.

You'd save a lot of weight on cables.

Yea that setup you recommend sounds great! It's too bad my repertoire has a lot of Bee Gees' tunes that use vocal harmonies - if not I'd definitely gone wireless with Sennheiser dongles + S1Pro.

Why couldn't TC Helicon just do an S1/Eon One Compact clone with harmonies built-in is beyond me. Think it'll be another few years of wait until the right kind of device for me comes along

Any ideas whether these newer units have overcome the initial crash and burn of this PA when it was first released?

These just suck. Even the original is way better.

Have you ever consider:

Shure WH20XLR + guitar > iRig PRO DUO I/O > iphone + TC Voice JAM app > sennheiser dongle (iRig Pro duo output)

With bluetooth iRig blueturn as a foot controller.

I have no idea if it could work but it would save you the weight of the TC pedal + The Boss amp + the long cables (almost 5 Kg?). ...Providing you find a belt pouch to carry the phone and the iRig Pro duo.

Irig pro duo= 197g
Irig blueturn=125g

PS: TC has their own Irig pro duo clone called “Go Twin”

UPDATE: forget about it, Voicejam app does not seem to do harmonies...

Great price
A friend paid $1,200 with roller bag when it first came out
Very loud for bluetooth music, but instrument /mic channels are weak!

The price is tempting! I'd suppose a guitar with an onboard pickup/preamp system would would function well with the JBL Eon One Pro's inputs, and likely, too, any moderate-output dynamic mic?
