Yes, I like the Piedmont style which seems more melodic to my ears than the delta type blues. I actually got to MJH via a book by Valerie Turner who is a contemporary Piedmont style artist greatly influenced by him. Thanks again, Chuck.

When I was a child I had a friend down the street who lived with his grandparents. His granddad would sing & play guitar a lot like that tune. Great memories.

Thanks Bob

Thanks Mike! I became a grandpa this summer, so I guess I'm settling into the vibe

She likes listening to me play (talk about a captive audience!) and my wife swears the baby's favorite tune is Ripple

Bob,

Great job and great song. And I liked the whistling.
Give us some more.

Thanks Steve! Love your Casey Jones, that's a tricky one for me.

John hums 2 verses of Stack O'Lee in the recording I'm using, the 1928 version. My humming sounded pretty lame so I tried whistling. Last note in each verse is wicked flat

I'm working up one of his more obscure numbers now, Big Leg Blues. My favorite modern version of that tune is by "Lost" Jim Olschmidt. I don't think he has a video of it, I heard it on a studio album he did with Stefan Grossman called "Satisfied." You can hear and purchase it here: https://jimohlschmidt.com/store. He has a lot of other MJH tunes on his Youtube. Check him out, a great talent:https://www.youtube.com/user/daddyjohn1893/videos

Peter Keane is another current player who does great stuff with John's tunes:

Sorry if this is old news to you, I can get carried away when it comes to talking about John Hurt's music
