Why not just try one of the remaining sets & see if it's OK? The one you tried may have been a lemon.

Straight Up Strings are used by lots of people, hard to believe they have a built-in flaw that causes a persistent buzz.

I've always respected Roger Siminoff's knowledge and experience, so I bought a set of his straight up strings as soon as they came out. They're not terrible, but not as good as the J74's or monels I typically use. Never bought another set.

yep, all around. I restrung with J74s and she's singing again. No disrespect for Roger's great work the strings just didn't do it for me. YMMV, IMHO, EIEIO
