Thoughts on this little portable thing
Hey all,
Part time folk musician from Australia here. On some weekends I head out to a few pub beer gardens or wineries and terrorise people with my warbling. I cart around a Berhringer PA system - PMP2000 or something like that. It's about 20 years old - lots of power, but pretty basic. it fills the car, takes time to set up and is heavy. I'm thinking of organising myself a lighter solution that is easier to set up. Anyone got thoughts on these things? Behringer Europort MPA200BT Or any other solutions that you use? Any advice is very welcome.

Not sure what's available in Australia, but if you have access to Fishman products a Loudbox Artist may be exactly what you're looking for. I play a bunch of venues with mine and it works great.

Have you checked out Swamp Industries in Fyshwick?
They have a pretty good selection of musical gear and sound reinforcement systems at every budget. And looks like Free Shipping in Australia! https://www.swamp.net.au/speakers-amps/ I live in the U.S., and purchased several items from them that are not available in the states. |

Are Bose and EV Evolve stick systems sold in Australia? Pardon my ignorance. If you're looking for easier to set up, it doesn't get easier than the Evolve 50m or 30M, which have a decent amount of inputs and an app that is the main way to control the built-in mixer. The Bose Pro line (Pro8, 16 and 32) have very basic built-in mixers with much more options using their own or someone else's outboard mixer--but like the Evolves, you stick the stick in the base--the sub--so no lugging around speaker poles.
Of course a lot depends on how much power you really need. Another medium-venue option would be the Fishman sa330x, and there are JBL Eon One Mk II fans here, the Yamaha Stagepas line.... Lots of options but it depends on how much punch you need, how widely the above are distributed globally, and whether they are any nutso markups compared to what we pay here in the States. |

Check out the Bose S1 - can be battery powered…less than 8 kg. Easy carry in, and easy setup. Vocal and instrument channels. Loud enough for listeners within 10-12 meters of performer. Can become much louder by using mixer with preamp, like the small Yamaha.

The Electro Voice Everse 8 is the newest, most feature-rich kid on the block. I use it personally and it's been a thumbs up from me so far.
