I go for a somewhat brighter sound because the sound will warm up as the epoxy hardens. When the glue is still wet, you have a couple of minutes to move it around and make changes. Once that is hardened a bit, go to the hi E string and do the same process.
A couple of questions. First, have you ever had issues with the glue getting into the bridge pin holes? The Dazzo pickups seem to be very close to the bridge pins. In Teddy's installation video, they look to almost be touching the pins. I worry that once I press down, a bit of glue will get into the holes.

Second, I am assuming that if you install a pickup and notice that it's not quite right tonally, you simply back it off of the bridge pins a bit? I remember experimenting with the Amulet by moving the pickups towards the sound hole but often times I found the volume would just decrease with little to no improvements.

Why not just give Teddy a call? Get the straight scoop directly. He's a one man show.

I use very little epoxy. It should never build up in excess. It should never interfere with the bridge pins.

Teddy is now in Oregon. It looks like I will be demoted to water boy and John will get the master chef to install Dazzos in his 12 string. See you soon John.

"Water Boy"?!!!

Never, Vance! You're just smart enough to keep learning from the progenitor... Haven't heard from Teddy yet, but I suspect I will do.

Looking forward to seeing you again!

I had the Anthem taken out of my 12 string yesterday; I really didn't notice all that much of an impact on that guitar's tone or volume due to the Anthem install, not like I did with my other 6 string Mark Angus acoustic... so, I was surprised and very pleased to hear that 12 string without the Anthem! It's louder and crisper (if that's even possible with a 12 string!) and just seems to breathe better. as though the guitar just got a new lease on life!

Gonna be great to get a set of Dazzo's in it!

A friend finally got Dazzos installed in his Guild F 112. He had issues with the B strings being too hot with his old pickups. Now it is smooth, smooth, smooth.

Teddy just told me that the install on a 12 string is exactly the same as it would be on a 6 string. Makes sense. Good to know if I ever have the need to do that type of install.

Once I get the epoxy, I will be installing the Dazzo. I figure I will just leave the battery powered Sunnaudio preamp for now and make the Dazzo passive down the road if I want that set up.

You will need some sort of DI. SunnAudio was designed to work perfectly with Dazzos. Word of warning, Dazzos are addicting, so I'd use either a RedEye or a SunnAudio pre. I have multiple Dazzo equipped guitars, one SunnAudio Stage 1 DI. One Dazzo equipped guitar is not enough.

No kidding! It is awesome to have a pickup that likely NEEDS no EQ.

It's important to "dial-in" the Dazzos with the amp or PA that you are gong to be playing it through to get the best tone you can with them...

Probably best to use something that has a fairly "flat" response curve for that aspect of the installation.

The last one I got installed, Teddy was using one Behringer 8" powered speaker, so nothing special there.

Besides the sound, the no EQ aspect of them is now to me, essential.

No EQ??

In case you were wondering. No EQ doesn’t mean, no EQ. It means you don’t have to use EQ to fix any problems or to correct imbalances or to doctor up a bad sound in the first place. I certainly use small amounts of EQ to get the sound to “Pop” and for fine tuning.

When I mentioned not having any eq on my dazzo-equipped Goodall, I was speaking of how great it sounded without any eq at all through my Bose T1>Bose L1 Model II...

I suspect that I would do something to the signal when I'm performing, depneding upon the venue... I'll also add a bit of reverb and delay to the signal, more than likely.

Nice to know that I'm "starting" with a solid sound... and I'll go from there!

Are you counting the frequency response built into the Dazzos themselves? Then certainly, every Dazzo has it's own frequency response. I had an interesting conversation with the owner of FireEye, and it was his view that most pres needed EQ functions to counter the poor amplification stage designs. The Redeye has a very linear gain stage. I used the RedEye for years after getting Dazzos, and I can't recall touching the minimal EQ on the Redeye. The same goes for the SunnAudio Stage 1 DI. I run everything flat, except when playing a JJB equipped cheapo archtop. That guitar needs a bass boost. If I were to put Dazzos in that guitar, they would be 80s or 90s.

So whatever "EQ" built in is what I go with. YMMV. I have 100s, 90s, 80s, 70s, and the very first 60s set, or was that 50s? Anyway the first one Teddy installed, to tame the bass of my D 35 Custom.

But as it relates to EQ on a pre, everything is flat, set at whatever Sonny designed into the unit.
