I use Logic Pro 9 for most of my audio on my mac, but I have to say by FAR the easiest full-featured software I've used is Sony Vegas on Windows. It does video, too...it's really great. I feel like the effects that ship with Logic are better, but I'm telling you - if Vegas was available on the Mac, I'd use it.
I do ALL my video editing using Vegas (which is mostly youtube stuff for my band) on the PC, because I can't help it - it's so dang easy.

Cubase 5.1
They're all good. The important thing IMHO is to spend time getting familiar with the program and developing a workflow that works for you. When that's accomplished your DAW will be the "best".

I was a beta tester for Studio One, and without going into details, hope you don't have get your code reset....
Reaper is on-sale for $40 now until V4 hits the net, so the deal is pretty good. For editing I have had great luck with Wavosaur, and it supports VST effects natively, unlike Audacity which needs to be set up the last time I used it (4 months ago)...
