Sonar Producer 8.5.
Have been using Cakewalk products since Pro Audio 6. IMO, it is the easiest to use and most complete DAW for PC, IMO. |

Wrong. You should check out the plugins that come with Samplitude... my whole album used only them and nothing outboard at all. Of course, with any new system you have the learning curve....

I use Logic Pro 9 for most of my audio on my mac, but I have to say by FAR the easiest full-featured software I've used is Sony Vegas on Windows. It does video, too...it's really great. I feel like the effects that ship with Logic are better, but I'm telling you - if Vegas was available on the Mac, I'd use it.
I do ALL my video editing using Vegas (which is mostly youtube stuff for my band) on the PC, because I can't help it - it's so dang easy. |

Cubase 5.1
They're all good. The important thing IMHO is to spend time getting familiar with the program and developing a workflow that works for you. When that's accomplished your DAW will be the "best". |

After looking at the options and knowing I didn't want to go the Pro Tools route, I ended up with Presonus' Studio One Pro. It came recommended by two pro's I spoke with and, after playing with the demo version, decided to give it a shot. First indications are good... |

I was a beta tester for Studio One, and without going into details, hope you don't have get your code reset....
Reaper is on-sale for $40 now until V4 hits the net, so the deal is pretty good. For editing I have had great luck with Wavosaur, and it supports VST effects natively, unlike Audacity which needs to be set up the last time I used it (4 months ago)... |
