Default Rainsong Advanced Series

Anyone have any information about the new Rainsong "Advanced Series" that was intruduced at NAMM? All graphite construction, at a much lower price point.

http://namm.harmony-central.com/WNAM...ed-Series.html

I've played a Rainsong WS1000 (their top line all-graphite model) and I really liked it, but it was outside of my price range. So this might be the ticket for me.

It looks like Elderly has them on order.

seems from the description there that a gigbag is standard rather than a hardshell case. I'm looking forward to playing one of these on a future trip there .....

I picked up the following additional info over in the Rainsong Yahoo group, and I thought I'd cross post it here for those who are interested.

This is from Frank Giffen:

Quote:
These guitars are new, very new, and I
suspect their web developers haven't caught up with
them. I saw them at the NAMM show and talked with
Ashvin and Jeanne about them. All the units they had
at NAMM were prototypes, and each one was a different
weight (Ashvin said they were working on reducing the
weight, and the newer prototypes were lighter). They
are different in a number of ways:

A) The body doesn't have the visible graphite weave,
primarily because they found they could greatly reduce
the cost of manufacturing if they went with an opaque
finish and not have to devote so much time to making
the weave look perfect. The weave is still visible in
the headstock, neck, and pickguard (yes, these models
have pickguards).

B) Another significant difference between these and
the "classic" all-graphite models is the neck has a
truss rod, so you can adjust the relief to your
liking. So how, you ask, did they make an
all-graphite neck flexible? It's a little thinner
than the classic neck, and most importantly, it
doesn't have a neck heel, which contributes greatly to
a standard graphite neck's rigidity.

C) The pickup system is a high-quality Fishman system,
and although I'm a huge fan of the Baggs Element, this
pickup sounded good, really good, through the Fishman
Loudbox they had in the booth.

D) Visually, there are some differences, most notably
the colors, red, blue, and black (I'd love to get a
Buck Owens-style red-white-and-blue one, or maybe a
Chet Atkins orange one, but I don't think that's going
to happen), and the back has a kind of beveled
"split-level" edge which Ashvin said they did "because
we could!" And of course, like the Projection series,
there are no sharks on the fingerboard (sob). But
that's how you hit a $xxxx price point, and they're a
great value at that price, even better at a street
price of a few points less.

The guitars play easily as well as the classics, some
say the neck is even faster, but I'm not convinced
about that (I've always been amazed at how fast the
classic RainSong necks were). They sound great,
almost as nice as the classics, and that fire-engine
red model will get you noticed. They're supposed to
ship sometime in the spring.

Great to hear about these new s. I love my CA Bluegrass, and would love to get a smaller bodied Rainsong. Just wish everything wasnt cutaway or with electronics. Love to pick up a OM body from Rainsong in the Advanced price range. Oh well I guess.Think these new s will attract a lot of attention, they certainly have caught my eye.
