Default EVH Wolfgang

I got an email from Musician's Friend announcing the new Eddie Van Halen Wolfgang guitar: http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/p...tar?sku=527909

What do you think? Is this something you'd buy? Who makes this? I know Peavey had a stake in making EVH guitars before... is this who is still making this guitar?

While I'm nowhere close to a Heavy Metal guitarist... I do admire what Van Halen does on the electric guitar. I like listening to his music.

What do you think?

Oh, and no... I'm not buying an EVH Wolfgang... not in this economy and not with all my expenses. But if money were not an issue? Sure! I'd get one!

Beautiful guitar. But:

$xxxx is way too much for this solid body electric guitar!!!! Frankly it is too much for any solid body guitar. A plank of wood, neck, pickups, tuning keys, c'mon.....

So what brand is this guitar? Is the EVH his own brand? Or is Peavey still involved somehow?

And if he ever switches to Gibson, There'll be an EVH Wolfgang from them as well.

It's interesting to me that Fender would be involved in manufacturing this guitar, but nowhere on the headstock is the Fender brand name to be seen. I guess that's called "clout" on Eddie's part, huh?

Here's the link to the USA Today story that kramster mentioned, complete with an interesting video:

This hand-crafted guitar is Eddie Van Halen's baby

Peavey could not get rid of EVH fast enough after he showed up tanked at the Peavey booth a few years back and made a total a** of himself. This was pre-rehab.

In a way - yes - EVH is his own brand and he has done a pretty good job of cultivating and protecting it through the years

I don't know - used Peavey Wolfgangs go from anywhere in the $800 to over $2000 range depending on options, custom shop, etc....

With Gibson getting $3000 for a sloppily put together LP.....??

The MusicMan and Peavey Wolfies are really nice guitars - if the Fender build quality is there then $3000 is not out of character. Certainly in line with a boutique bolt on Strat or tele replica from any number of modern shops like Nash, D'Pergo, Suhr, etc. and it will most likely have some "collectible" value as it is only a metter of time before EVH and Fender part ways.
