Mag soundhole pickup in a shorty.
Hi
I have a used shorty coming today. My first CF guitar. I've never been a big fan Of piezo pickups for live stage Band use. Has anyone ever Used mag pups in a carbon Fiber guitar? I have a m80 and A sunrise. I like the sunrise in my Taylor dread. And if I like the shorty I may try it.just wondering if anyone Else uses one in their OM cf I will certainly try the prefix t But will probably go with the Color coordinated Sunrise |

As far as soundhole pups, I've seen a couple examples. There was a guy who sold a Shorty a couple years back (user handle joeguam) who sold his Shorty here equipped with a Baggs M1. You might want to PM him directly for further information. Here is a link to the thread of that guitar and then a video of what it sounded like with an M1. https://www.acousticguitarforum.com/...ainsong+shorty |

I have a Rainsong CH-OM basically the same as your Shorty (congrats!) I use an LR Baggs M1A in mine and I much prefer that to the built in Baggs undersaddle/preamp. Hope this helps. jricc |

I had a Shorty for a few years and really liked the sound and onboard controls with the Fishman Prefix+T. I haven't used a soundhole pickup in several decades, so I can't give you and advice regarding that. I only buy acoustics with onboard pickups... give that Fishman a try; I'm guessing you will like it.

So the shorty sg came.
Unfortunatly it wasn't set up Very well. So I've been A bit busy doing that. I've Plugged it in and the pickup works..after replacing the dead Battery. So the jury is still Out on the ust. I'm just not A fan.but I'll play with it some more now that I have the guitars action to where its playable. This is my first CF guitar . And I'm liking the acoustic tone that comes out of this thing. |

I really appreciated the Fishman barndoor pickup, though - I like having that control right on the guitar. There is a lot to like about the Shorty, especially if you are good with the neck profile. Enjoy getting comfortable with it.

Yes I dont seem to mind the neck
So much after I set it up to play better. Time will tell. I have big hands and long fingers. So this chunky neck Is ok everywhere. I just recently sold an old 30s birch parlor. And it had a similar profile. |

I hate mag pickups because they sound, well, magnetic. I prefer a piezo or a soundboard transducer.
I have a Lace that I swap between guitars, and it works just fine in my shorty and my parlor.

A lace soundhole pu sounds interesting. No magnetic sound?

It's not bad, some other brands end up sounding like you are playing an electric.
Eventually I will probably break down and put in either a JJB or K&K in the Parlor, though those have their obvious downsides as well. I wanted something I could swap arroudn though, and this fits the bill, I also like how the jack clips on the endpin. https://www.musiciansfriend.com/acce...-guitar-pickup Was also on sale last year when I bought it.
