Headless guitars?

Anybody have one? Have to say I didn't even know these existed. But there's a lot I don't know being out of the game for 30 years.

That one looks funny without a sound hole.

Speaking off I would like to make a headless one as I want to make a lightweight guitar and not want it to be neck heavy. I still have not decided which way to go.

The difference in neck dive overall balance and overall size for a full length scale is great.

The only drawback is that tuning is a bit awkward given switching hands etc.

The headless design just never caught my eye, but that’s just me.

I don't have a headless guitar but wish I had picked up one of these Alpaca
carbon fiber guitars when they were still available.

Some folks seem to post negative opinions about headless guitars who apparently have never tried one. Par for the course.

I have an old Steinberger copy made by Hohner as well as a newer Carvin headless. I like them a lot.

Tuning in the middle of performing a song is way easier when you can leave the left hand in place (one, say, a sustained chord) and move the right hand quickly to tweak the tuning.

Having no headstock and minimal body makes for a lightweight and ergonomic instrument, as well as making it easy to focus on the strings.

If you haven't tried one, I recommend finding out if it is truly abhorrent to you or possibly an open door.

Well Steinberger developed these almost 30 yrs ago.The guy who started this company was the former co-owner of Mandolin Bros in NYC.I tried one for a couple of weeks back in the mid 90's.I couldnt get used to it.Couldnt shake the feeling that my hand was gonna fly off the neck past the first fret.

I just ordered a Steinberger Spirit to use as a travel guitar. Like anything else, it looks weird until you get used to it.

That may be but I never saw anything like it 30 years ago.
